Free Diabetes Screenings (Free Health Event) |
| |
Time: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Location: Northwest Activities Center
23.6 million Americans suffer from diabetes and nearly 25% are unaware that they have the disease. Along with the effects insufficient insulin levels can have on daily activities, research indicates that many people with diabetes suffer from high blood pressure and cholesterol. As a result, an alarming number of people with diabetes greatly increase the risk of stroke or developing heart disease, but this risk can be lowered by having regular diabetes screenings.
In celebration of National Diabetes Month, Quality Home Health Care Services of Michigan, a Southfield-based home care agency, will provide free diabetes screenings every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, beginning November 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Detroit’s Northwest Activities Center. In partnership with AOM Healthcare Solutions, participants with diabetes will be given a free glucometer that includes ten test strips for home use. The screenings are open to the public, free of charge, and no appointment is necessary. Additional Information
